I brought in 30 of my daffodils on Friday to keep them from freezing over in the snow this weekend. This was a close up I took today with my 100mm macro lens and possibly an extension tube or two.

In pp, I added a dry brush filter and an omni light filter down at the base of the cup. I also added an ethereal glow action to soften everything. To warm up the yellows a bit I added a light layer of red photo filter. I also painted over any white areas with a light (20%) brush of a matching light yellow.

I love all the echoing shapes in the BG Jules and good idea about the brush using yellow. Makes a nice monochromatic scheme. And I always like your crops/comp ....and don't worry spring is around the corner.

Jules, Daffodils scream spring to me. This is very nicely presented. I like the softening effect you applied.:)

Thank you, Ladies. Jackie, I have high hopes that spring will land here this week! They are saying another possibility of snow but I don't think it would DARE at this point!

Totally different look for a daffodil, Jules. Very impressive creative process. I love the edges and textures. Can't believe you got snow! :( We have been enjoying 60+ days here in Indiana this week!

Simply lovely, Jules! The bright yellow colors, the soft look, and light, airy feel are all so beautiful and springlike. :) I can't wait till there's some flowers up here!

Thanks everyone. I really had a hard time getting this one where I wanted it and I'm STILL not 100% sure about it but I am happy where it's at at this point. Appreciate everyone stopping by to comment!

I love this, Jules. As a suggestion, and mind you, not sure if it would improve, I'd like a bit more contrast or detail in the central lip. The colors are very well worked, it really glows!

Fabs, just to be sure I understand you...you're saying if I increased the contrast on the lip of the central "cup" then it would separate it from the cup a bit more and show off it's "ruffliness"? Is that what you're saying? Just want to make sure I understand before I go back and play with it. ;)
