Image taken last July on Artie's Galapagos trip - Espanola Island. 20D, 70-200 f/2.8 at 180mm. 1/640, f/8, ISO 400. I experimented with the high-key effect on this one. Comments welcomed.

Don't normally care for high key stuff but this one works for me due to the lines created by the pose, the fur, the ear, and even the fly all running in the same direction.

    Steve,

I like high-key and this is great. I love the expression.

The off-white color of the BG contrasts nicely with the brown hues of the seal. Well done.

A well done high key image here.. Very nice detail. Maybe a bit of selective luminance lightening on the seals eye would help...

    Steve,
I would say that you have got this right. The details in the seal is captured nicely and the subject just pops out. Nice image.

Steve, I like your image alot. Nice detail, I do agree that a little brighter eye would be a big plus !!

Hi Steve, I love this portrait! The high effect works very well IMO, the details on the head and the fur texture and pattern are excellent. I wouldn't change a thing.
