Hi Ovidiu Great set up and love the bg !!! Excellent pose and eye contact !!! About all I would do is lighten the area just in front of the eye, not sure if that is the bird's coloration or if its a little shadow? Sort of draws attention !! Like it a lot Big Congrats !!! ... like the tech settings You did well cleaning up and exposure was right on the money !!!

Lots to like here!!! Good HA and eye contact - sharp as a tack - agree with AL about lightening the area in front of the eye.
    Good show!!

Hi. Interesting subject, nice pose and a muted backround. Agree about lightening the area around the eye. There is a color caste in the image...

Like the picture but perch is almost too dominate for me. Consider flash, ETTL with -3 or -2 as a default on cloudy days. Can strap diffuser on if needed as well. Nice setup and like the ISO 800 to gain light. I have a 40D and you did well with the IQ given this ISO IMO.

The area in front of the eye is the bird's coloration, but I think you are right about trying to lighten it a bit.

These guys are ground feeding and no matter how I tried setting another perch (twig) around/above the seed tray they did not perch on it. They perch in the trees around and land on the seed tray. Only thing that works for now was setting a piece of wood wide enough and placing the seeds between cracks out of camera sight.
Yes, I wish too they were perching on something smaller...but I will keep trying:). Also dreaming about a longer lens...but now this is not possible.

    Thanks for comments and suggestions!:)

The 1.4 works well with this lens too - that might help a bit. Love the work and nice job developing the backyard setup.

Very nice Ovidiu. Really sharp. Is this an overcast day or part of your set-up (BG).
