    Hi Folks

    In the 20 years we have been here, this is our first Ladder-backed Woodpecker. In fact we had 2 Gila's & 2 Ladder-backed's at the same time.

    Hi Gus - Wow more cool birds from your garden.
    tough bird in anything but soft light (Both ends of the dynamic range) the mixed light has not helped either - looks a little contrasty on my screen.
    I would remove the small branch on the top RHS that comes out from the tree.
    Like the BG.

    Hi Gus, Good advice by Lance.I'm not the HAP but would of hoped for a better angle. The foreground bark is a bit hot also...
