    Wonderful splash and wing psoition. The whole reflection might have been nice. +.66 does not make much sense for this situation and thus, the whites look very bright at best (if not toasted). With dark BKGRs and not huge white subjects some minus compensation is usually called for...

    It was a little hot on the shoulders, but my 3 month experience with the D300 and center weighted metering tells me that it reacts way different that Nikon's matrix metering...especiually as compared to the D2Xs bodies I used to shoot with.

    In hindsight, +.03 in center weighted would have worked much beater.

    Typically, if I had been shooting matrix, I would have been at -.7 on this shot, but with Nikon's new "scene recognition" and metering it no longer woks quite right....they don't even recommend using EV compensation in matrix.
