    Caught this immature Red-shouldered Hawk (I think) scanning for a meal yesterday. Canon 50D - 600 f4 w/ 1.4 ext. ISO 1000 1000/th @ f11

    I like the pose. A bit tight in the frame and maybe slightly over exposed. I am not sure I understand your choice of the settings. Looks like you had plenty light for the iso 1000, also not sure the f11 was the best choice considering the busy BG.

    This is indeed a juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk. I like the pose and sharpness, and I do agree the bird is overexposed. I also have to question your settings. F/5.6-8 and a much slower ISO speed would have been fine I think.

    The 1000 ISO was accidental - I grabbed the camera and shot when I saw the hawk and didn't realize it was that high until later.
