    Sony A700, 70-400G @400mm, f8, 1/1250, iso1000, EC +1.0, HH, 50% of FF. PP in PSE8, exposure correction in camera raw, S/H, desaturaded reds, cloned out branches running behind bird, in front of bird and under perch, USM, reduced highlights in beak with burn tool. I'm not sure about the tail?

    Hi Peter, Nice subject in even lighting. Good job on the basic cleanup but a few areas could use further cleanup.
    They are by the birds back,end of tail,chest area under beak and far right branch area needs blending...

    Agree with Dave Could go to those areas zooming in for closer inspection !!!

    Good exposure and natural colors. Agree with the comments concerning blending the clone work a bit better. Not on the best monitor in the world at the moment but I think I'm seeing a bit of noise in the background as well. Might be this dirty, over-used, uncalibrated work station.

    Thanks all for the comments. I think I need to clean my glasses as I thought i got all the clean up done. Good eyes Dave.

    Think you did a good job with the reds Peter. A cleaner perch would have been great, but boy I find it is tough to get a picture where everything is working.

    Peter, good work. Even lighting, good exposure, and I like to see you playing around with ISO 1000! Also doing corrections in RAW a good idea, as well. These birds are hard to get with a clean background, I think they do it on purpose! Well done~regards Bill

    The composition is very nice. The Cardinals are very good looking birds. I wish we had them here.
