    Default Close-up Gull

Took this one last year at Barnegat NJ on one of my first bird shoots. Just downloaded FotoSketcher, on the recommendation of Denise and was playing around with it. Not a fan of "digital" frames but it was part of the FotoSketcher program. I darkened the right side of the gull a bit and used a mask to reveal the eye.

Nick, You can always un-check the box that adds the frame if you like. I like the dark looking image with the lighting on just the bird. I do wish for a slightly better HA:) The revealed eye looks good, I might lighten the eye and beak a touch to make them stand out just a tiny bit more if it were mine. Very nicely done.

This would be a great entry for out chiaroscuro theme with the dark and lights. Like the idea of lightening the eye and beak a bit too.:)

Thanks for the feedback. Daaaa...I just looked at how to turn off the frame it's in front of my face. It does look a little dark to me as well, I will try to re-work it with your suggestions Jackie and Denise. thanks.

Okay another try. Your opinions are welcome. I removed the frame, lightened it a bit, and masked out the eye and beak.

I like the repost better than the original, Nick -especially the eye and the beak. And losing the frame was a plus too. I'd like to suggest a little linear or other contrast enhancement to bring out the colors even more:)

The first image was very dark and had a good "ghostly" feel to it but the repost is even nicer. I really love the eye and beak now. I might mask in a bit of detail on those very white feathers if it were mine.

Hi Nick, I kind of like the feel of the original so I would go for something more in-between the two. Just my opinion. Losing the frame was a definite plus.
