Taken last evening. Practicing with the new 500 mm. My question is, I added some blur to the background, does it work here?

    50D, 500mm + 1.4 tc, f/6.3, 1/800, ISO 640.

Thanks for looking and appreciate the comments!

Nice low angle to the bird... sharp looking image. I personally like the background as you presented.

I like it Gary Most of all the overall shadow detail. The bg blurring looks natural !!!

Would just do away with the highlights in the breast area and darken the pupil !! Neat image Like it a lot !!!

Hi Gary Nice posture on the duck - it does have attitude. I think the bg works pretty well. The brown stripes that almost seem to run through the Redhead's body are a bit distracting. Maybe blur them a bit more and/or reduce their saturation?
Quite a neat image; certainly holds my attention.

Lot's to like here, nice nature/serene mood. Agree with Al regarding breast highlights and work the eye a bit - nice picture.

Love the low shooting angle - I might be tempted to add just a tad more sharpening to the head.
Looking forward to seeing more :)

I can't really add any more than what others have said.

Love the attitude! Great shot! Bg looks fine to me. Clone out the highlights as already suggested and this image will right on!

Works for me. With Al's suggested mods and a touch of sharpening to the eye, you have a winner. I went to the Jersey shore today hoping to see redheads, and came up empty. I'm envious of this one.

Thank you Alfred, the breast stood out but the pupil did not for me, thanks for the keen eye.

Thanks Bill! The redheads are around here for about 2 weeks. Heading to Florida next week so had to get a few shots in.
