This fine looking bird replaces the shack that was living a few posts down .... got carried away experimenting not sure why ... but it was fun :D Some of you got a chance to see it now floating in cyberspace :)

.. better go back to birds and here is one from DeSoto This gull was fighting with another, a few frames later zoomed out and got both but couldn't get two visible heads. btw was trying to get birds landing and was using a higher than normal shutter speed. I think they are going to improve if I keep the shutter speed at 1/2500 or over ... so far it has.

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

I can hear him from here. Nice wing position and well exposed, especially on a bright sunny day.

Hi Alfred, as stated not easy getting good detail with the light but it's all there. Great wing position with the open mouth a bonus. Well handled...

Love the Pose and open beak :)
Also like were you have placed the water line - a lower shooting angle would have meant the water line intersecting the neck area - Nice choice.

Lance I was in the water when I took that picture and even my brain was cold !!! When I got to the parking lot was 39 degrees !!! Running around the lagoon with water above your knees is no fun !!! ... I did perk up when I saw the bird fight :)

Super sharp Al, surprised at the good DOF at f5, was it much of a crop? Love the wing position as well and good detail in the whites.

Very nice wingspread. I like the action you've captured. This bird looks like it means business.
