    Default Master and Slave

I know you can use two 580 EXII flashes to set up the Master & Slave, but if you used the twin lite macro light and the 580 EX II could you be able to create the same master and slave set up. Wish I had a Nikon, it is so much easier to just use the pop up to send the infrared beam to the slave. Anyone know???

Hi Jackie - Cant answer that - I am from the darkside.
With the Nikon - yes you can use the contoller from the macro kit to control a flash other than the macro flash - would be surprised if Canon was not the same :)

Hi, Jackie. Definitely. Just push ratio on the twin flash controller until C shows up. That's your off-camera flash, whose compensation you can control from the twin flash controller (if the off-camera flash is set to 0) or on the flash itself. Make sure you set your 580 to be slave C and on the same channel as the twin flash controller.

Of course, if you have the 7D, you can use the built-in flash as master just as you would on a Nikon D200 or D300.

    Cheers,

That's great. I knew that the 7D had the same Nikon feature, this saves me from buying another 580 EX II. Thanks so much Greg and Lance.
