    Wish for a bit better head turn, and a cleaner background. Still fairly pleased as this was my first time photographing this particular species of shorebird.

    Hi Paul. I like the shallow depth of field that leaves the bird sharp but the FG and BG blurred. As you point out, a cleaner BG (and FG) would be nice. I see a halo around the bill and the front of the neck (could this be from BG blurring?). I also wish you had more light on the bird's face. Lastly, I might go for slight CCW rotation.

    Hi Paul, You were up against it here before you even pushed the shutter button with the sun from the hard right and the bird facing left. That is the reason for the lack of light on the face. In addition, the image needs some CCW rotation. And the biggest problem in the BKGR is the black rock.
