    Default Tripod question

Hello, a query on tripods, specifically small ones.

I spent a good portion of my military years behind a spotting scope. I am looking for a tripod that can work from the prone position, yet hold a 7D/100-400L combo. Any suggestions appreciated

Have you looked into something like a bean bag?

I have, but I am carry a Ghillie drape as well, and 16lbs is a lot of extra weight.

Not sure how well the pods work.

In this situation I often use a home made ground pod - aluminium frying pan drilled and countersunk to fit a machine screw to fix on a ballhead and sidekick (works well with the 200-400 and 500). An Angle finder is useful to save your neck when shooting prone.

Russel you may want to try this, I use one with ball head when I am lying in the scrub in my Ghillie suit.
