Trust your histogram and your knowledge of what you know is right!! DO NOT TRUST THE MONITOR ON THE BACK OF YOUR CAMERA!!! i was shooting the afternoon, paying attention to the histogram the entire time. but the underwing detail did not look good on the back of the camera. the birds were over water and i knew the water was reflecting light upwards to expose the underwings, but the camera monitor did not show that!! it was not until i got home and looked at the images on my computer screen that i could see that everything was OK!! perfect exposures! and that's exactly what the histogram was telling me!!
now this image doesnt exactly illustrate this point, but i wanted to share it with you. maybe i'll post some flight shots later this week.
D300, Bigma at 270mm, f/8, 1/2500s, -0.7EV, ISO 640. a crop off the bottom, slight contrast boost and a little shapening were the only things done here. now who's gonna tell me i need more room up top!!?:)
thanks for looking. comments and critiques much appreciated.
:)
More room up top MR H - now if you had a D3S it would just auto add to the top - knowing that - you intended to have more room up there. How about some CW rotation??
