I am having trouble with the ID of this Sparrow.. I think I have it narrowed down to either a Savannah or a Seaside Sparrow, but would like some assistance.. Was taken this morning at Myakka State Park on the West Coast of Florida.

    Thanks

    Dave

I would suggest it is a Savannah Sparrow as Seaside are confined to saltmarshes and I don't think there are any saltmarshes in Myakka. I am not familiar with Seaside and it looks like a Savannah to me.

It's a Savannah. However, I have seen Seaside Sparrows at Myakka, although it's been 20 years or so.

    Hi,

Typical yellow lores, streaky breast without the coalescence into a central spot, and short tail, of a Savannah Sparrow. Seaside is a darker bird with a long bil and a prominent yellow spot above the lores, which looks quite different from this one.
