    Image from an exploratory pelagic trip from Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, NZ this weekend. Great conditions but very few birds compared to what I usually see when out fishing.
    Nikon D700
    Nikon 200-400 + 1.4x @550mm
    ISO 800, 1/1000s f 8 manual HH
    Light direction not ideal but some fill from reflection from the bright side of the large catamaran

    I like the fly-by pose and eye contact. The light angle might not be ideal, but there is enough detail to be seen. I might crop a tad off the bottom.

    I like the idea of a pano crop with some canvas taken off the bottom. You did pretty well with your exposure considering the light angle, but I'd still be tempted to brighten the bird a little.

    Hi Tony, you wont catch me on a boat or catamaran, sea legs not that great - pity, as I would love to go out on those type of trips and capture the birds that one wouldnt see along the coast line. Lovely soaring posture, and he looks so relaxed. How is that colour of that water. Comp wise, I would maybe take a bit off the top and bottom.

    Another, I want one of these birds...excellent capture, wing position, can't comment on exposure on laptop...thanks for sharing this one...
