A close up of the flower of butterfly grass. Handheld, the insect was a bonus. It was so small I never noticed it until PP - which was done in light room overlaying a copy of an edge preset with one done with a glow preset.

Kora, It has an almost opalescent look to it. I'm not completely understanding the edge preset or the glow preset and their effect on the image. Can you explain more? Thanks:)

Seems like you can almost see through the edges. The bug is a bonus Kora:)

The presets were free downloads from

When you add a preset you can save a virtual copy then add another preset over that - and save another copy etc. I just go down the presets until I get an effect I like, denise. Sorry I can't be more specific

I like the opalescent look, Jackie. Must try it out on a better image. This wasn't taken by my macro lens and I had to crop it in so it suffered a bit:)

Nice diagonal comp with the brown areas offset in the frame, Kora. I find myself wishing the tip of the petal that the bug is on had a little more detail and focus to it but overall I do like the close up. Those little bugs - they'll get you every time. I'm always surprised when I go to take out the little imperfections of an outdoor image how many times they are bugs in disguise!

Kora, I like to use this technique too. One layer with edge detail and another layer with a soft focus effect. You got a nice look with this one!

Thanks for looking and commenting Jules and Kerry. I see what you mean about the bottom petal, Jules. Might try a selection of the top LC, underlaying it rotated and masking through to gain a bit of definition in the BRC.:) Kora
