    Default gambel's quail portrait

Just got back from Arizona trip. Spent 4 days at Bill Forbes pond at elephant head.
A fantastic place to photograph many bird species and Bill is a wonderful host. If you are interested you can email me for more info about Bill's pond.

Great perch, colours and BG, nice detail in the bird, my only wish would be for a more upright posture.

Thanks for the info regarding pond, i'm going to have to check it out one of these days.

Great image!! Maybe just toning down the perch as it is pretty dominant.

I agree with everything stated and would definitely crop a bit off the bottom to make the perch less dominate. Awesome work!

I'd be inclined to brighten the image and then darken the highlights. Sweet shot.

    Paul,

I got around 300 portrait images of Quail and I am sure you will see one in upright posture.

    Ofer,

I am thinking of cropping a little like Justin suggested.
Not sure if toning down will work or not.

Great color and I like the position of the bird on the tree.

Beautiful Sid. This must be a great place to shoot. I was in Tucson for a couple of years and have some birding experience in that region.

Perfect head turn and background. I dont mind the dominant perch in the OP much.

Hi Sid. I like the crop in the repost. I think the bird's pose works well with the perch. I'm hoping to make it to the pond sometime this year; it'll be my first visit.
