I have a full body shot of this guy, but I thought I would share a close up portrait of the Wattled Plover. They are fairly chilled when sticking your lens out the window, but never seem to pose at the right angle. Taken in Rietvlei nature reserve close to my house.

Interesting subject with good sharpness. As you mentioned, a slight head turn would have been nice. And I would have liked a bit more sun hitting the bird's face.

Stuart, I really envy you.....the opportuities you get to make head shots at 400mm.....and you make the most of them. Lovely bokeh in this one. Liked the diagonal element in the composition. Sharpness excellent as usual.

Another of your excellent images with a clean background that enhances the colours of the head. Well focussed and exposed.

I like this portrait Stu! Super BG and colours. If it were mine, I would have tried to use a touch of fill-flash to "liven" up the eye a bit. Still a great image well done!
