IQ suffers some from a 30% crop. I visited Reef Foot State Park last week and a few Eagles were still in the nest.

Think the IQ looks OK. What did you meter off, the whites in the neck??? Just curious as to why you seem to choose this type of metering. You have time to meter and take the shot? If I were to critique anything the angle capture looks a little steep.

Jackie, the Eagles perch in trees and overlook the Mississippi River to fish. I park on a levy close by and the birds are about 50 - 75 feet away and high in the trees to get best perspective. Probably too far away but its best chance for me to get an Eagle image; I hope for a close-up or fly-by but nothing this day.

Send me a PM and we can talk more about metering if you like.

I like the exposure and pose, wish the tail was not clipped and angle a bit steep. does show noise, when you say 30% crop does it mean that this is 30% of the original or 70% of the original? if it is 70% and proceeded well you should not get so much noise at ISO 400.

Angle is not always possible as we want it to be:)...but I think i like this one because of the proud look.

30% of the original image was cropped.

I really like this. I like the wind-blown, puffed up look of the feathers. I haven't seen this in the eagles by me.
I don't mind the lean and I like the HA and eye contact. My only wish would be to see the whole tail in the image.
    Excellent capture.

I have more of the tail and thought about rebuilding the tip and disclosing that. But given the feather in the nose and the steep angle thought it was not worth the time ??

Nice details in the feather, this bird looks like it's wearing a shaggy coat!
