Wish I could get closer to these birds when they are fishing. This is probably 50 % of frame. Wish he would have looked my way a bit too.

Sometimes you have to take what you can get. I like the position of the bird in the frame.

Well as Mike said sometimes you have to take what you can get. Life can be hard some times !!! Great image no picks from me. In the UK about 1 mile is close to these guys... Nice work

I've seen some simply incredible shots of Osprey from the UK from Miguel Lasa so it must be possible here too :d

    Default Hi Jim

I know how hard these guys are to get close to (unless you're in a blind at Miguel's favorite trout hatchery), but this one presents as too far away for my tastes.

Also...there is a bit of a non natural color cast and I can't quite put my finger on it except that there's a blueish cast to the top side of the left wing.

Was it foggy at all by chance?

Nope, not foggy just overcast and blah. I wish I could hope in the blind at that trout hatchery one day.

Your comment on the color got me to wondering and I measured :D Looks like the Blue channel is indeed running 20 or more points higher than the others, but only on that wing tip, not in the whites. . . . I guess I'll have to do some selective cast removal if I ever do anything with this, but I probably won't do much but try to replace it with a better one.

    FJ,

To this experienced eye, lots of problems. Orange is over-exposed and detail-less. Try deSATing the reds and the yellows... And too much Sh/H on the upper wings. All in all a strange over/under combo...

Love the wing position but would crop a bit from the bottom. Rarely do we want more room below the bird than above.

later and love, artie/the party crasher
