My first sighting of the year for these guys, a sure sign of Spring's return to the Rockies. Wish he'd been facing into the setting sun so I could've gotten his face illuminated but I kind of liked the rimlight. BG is distant pines and leafless oaks. 40D, 400DO + 1.4xTC, f7.1, 1/320s, ISO 640, -1/3 EC, handheld, cropped a bit from bottom and right.

Hi Steve, I like the pastel blue of this little guy, and the light looks fine to me. Comp works well, love the perch, and overall, good detail captured. Looks like its time for you to get out on your hikes again. Cheers.
Good-looking specimen, I'd love to see this species sometime. I like the soft light, angle and eye contact. I'm wondering what it would look like if the bird were a little higher in the frame.
Ditto Axel. I'd love to see a little more perch and a small crop from top. But wow....this is one heck of a photo. I love the light. The colors are great. Blue on the bird and the lavender in the BG as well. Perfect exposure and excellent sharpness.
Wonderful shot of this Bluebird. For me, the mail Mountain Bluebird is the most beautiful bird in the world I am still disappointed that I didn't get a shot of them in Yellowstone when I was there.
The light, the head angle and the BG are all great in this shot.
