    Default Northern Parula

There was movement in the canopy of the tree and all of a sudden this hilarious, vividly colored Northern Parula pops out hanging upside down on a branch looking at us. He observed us for a while then hopped merrily along from branch to branch and tree to tree spending almost as much time right side up as upside down.

Definitely a pretty bird. The whites are blown out and need toning down and your copyright right on top of the bird spoils it

I like the colors and ambiance here, but there are major problems, first the head is an awkward position with no eye contact, light is not good and feathers are soft, the watermark is very distracting too. TFS, better luck next time!!!

    Hi Arash,

"Better luck next time!!!" ??? ... I did not realize the image was that bad or I would not have never posted it.

I thought the position of the bird was pretty unique and unusual with its inquisitive look hanging upside down from the limb accentuated by the postion of its head and eye contact.

What would you recommend for the 'bad light' ... use of a speed light?

What would you recommend to counter the soft feathers?

    Tom

    Tom,

I just gave my honest opinion, not meant to be insulting, sorry if you didn't like it, no photo is bad, but there is room for improvement!

When the sun is not behind you and coming at a steep angle it will create shadows and blown highlights, speedlight can help create a more uniform lightning in these situations.

Softness in feathers can be a result of misfocus, inadequate shutter speed, lack of proper sharpening in post or a combination of these.

Checkout the ETL and Digital processing forums, lots of resources there!!! :)
