Nice proud pose and the perch looks good too, Ken. I like the sky detail in the BG. Well exposed to keep detail in the darks and lights. I can see this as portrait crop by removing from the left.

I like the look-back pose, eye contact and clouds in the BG. I would sharpen the bird a tiny bit more and agree on cropping a bit off the left and maybe add a little canvas at the bottom.
Good detail of a spectacular bird Ken. A portrait crop would really suit this image well.
Nice one.
Steve;)

all great critiques I agree a magnificent bird
very nice shot of my favourite bird Ken...I would slice some off the LHS but love the details here. I think adding a few points to the black channel in "selective color" would make the blacks a bit truer? how do you find the 100-400 performs with a 1.4x converter?
Thanks for your comments I have no idea as to why I missed this nearly 4 years ago.

I added some black but found if I went much higher then I lost some detail, as for the 100-400mm which I sold, it appears that it was better than I thought:confused:
thanks Ken. I still have my 100-400, was just wondering how it performed with the TC :)
Gorgeous bird! Good sharpness and colors.I really like that you've got the clouds in the BG.
