I had an old water surface image from 2008 that needed a little something because the lighting was rather drab so I ran it through Fractalius today. (I believe I used a tweaked version of Glow 100 preset.) The zigzag was created by the light zigging across the surface of the small lake and Fract really brought out the depth of the "zig".

Shot in JPEG back before I learned what RAW was! :D

Yup! The water was pretty choppy that day and I angled my camera to get the diagonal line that was cut up by the rocking motion of the water.

Jules, I t looks like a lightening bolt. Very cool idea for the filter. I like the diagonal placement of the glow.

You might consider looking at adjusting the layer fill and/or opacity just to see what will surface.

    Thanks Denise. :)

James, I did and unfortunately it wasn't that good. The original image was very 'muddy' - that's why I tried Fract on it - to see if I could lose the part I didn't like. When I went to play with the opacity the 'muddiness' came right back again. So I'm going with the full-on fract version this time! Good suggestion, though.

    Hi Jules,
I like just as it is. I find my eye traveling back and forth across the diagonal and discovering new subtleties with each pass. I agree on the lightning bolt thought and might call it a message from Thor. :D

I do like the contrast between light and darkness. There is a certain inherent tension between the two. I like the full on Fract. for the photo.

A very 'striking' image, Jules:D The choice of fract was perfect for this. Love the wonderful vitality of it all! K
