    Adams,
What a beautiful image. I like the dark background and the fog effect at the feet and the pose is superb. The exposure and feather detail are excellent. I would darken the bright area at the top as it is a little distracting in my opinion.

Like the exposure and sharpness...wish there was a tad more head turn but I;m not the HA police so it is what it is :)

Now...I find the upper "layer" distracting but I'm guessing most won't. perhaps if it were toned down a bit? personally, I'd love the green to continue upwards.

The bottom "fog" I find distracting also (again...maybe just me). Was it fog? It looks as though the image were captured through something which was between you and the feet / pebbles / plant material. Personally, I find that when the DOF is so isolated from bot the foreground and background, that I like everything in that plane to be sharp.

Maybe I'm just not dreamy enough./..I'm sure that Fabs will let me know :)

Put me in the camp of those not bothered by the light area at the top. I think the dark strip of background running primarily behind the bird's head really works to emphasize the subject. Lighting, exposure, perspective are all perfect. I'm not as sure about the "fog" at the bottom. I think the image would be stronger with sharpness all the way to the feet. If it's really fog then it is what it is, but if it's some other object in the very near foreground that's out of focus, I'd have probably tried to get around it if possible. It's a stunning image either way... great work and thanks for sharing it.

Thank all of you for the kind comments.
I like to do this type of low angle image with OOF FG to get that dreamy feeling. The "fog" is sand and so is the light area on top of the image. I am also trying to educate my eye to see things a few different ways, by doing that i can create images i like and images that will please the majority of the viewers. The image attached was created just a few frames before the original image posted, i raised the tripod a few inches to get a clean view of the feet an eliminate the light area on top.
    I hope you like it:)

Adams, in the OP, I like the OOF FG and head angle works for me. The light area at the top though is a little distracting, as noted by others. I like the second one a lot as well. Both are excellent images in their own right. Light is real nice. Thx for showing us different ways to approach a shot in the field. That sort of guidance helps newbies like me.
