Looks good to me. Details good, sharpness good. Could use more DOF perhaps? Wonder about if a darker background would be better, too.

thanks, desmond. i tried the darker bg. it got muddy and just didnt look as good. i do hate that it's just plain ole grey. i think it's a concrete seawall. boring.:o

I like it a lot Harold Dof wise I don't think you would get all that much even stopping down, tough at short distance !!! For an interesting bg try picking one with dark clouds on the bg, should be able to do in the afternoon !!! Neat !!!

..... btw the head has the slightest of tilt which works real well for me !!!

Detail is incredible and so is EXP. I can even see the palm tree in the eye of the bird, an youngon judging by rgw coloring.
You know your Mom is scissor happy and I don't think we need all that space behind the head, so here's my version. Moving the camera a little to the left would have yielded no crop. And sometimes, due to the anatomy of the bird, if the eye falls in the middle, it is what it is.
Hope you caught your red mouthed gull today :)

Hi Harold - amazing detail for sure and spot on exposure - as Fabs mentioned detail in the eye is very cool.
Fabs repost is a improvement on compositionally - just changes the feel.
    Love it.

Nice sharp eye and facial detail, Harold. I like how you crop your headshots (just browsed your website).
I also like the crop Fabs did.
