Thought I might post something from the other side of the pond.:)

Taken up in the Cairngorms, Scotland. where if lucky you get to see these magnificent beasts. Like this one, often found foraging in the bracken & heather. Not that you can see it at this size, but at a larger size you can see the rain coming down, which is typical of the area. :D

I really like this as it conveys beautifully the typical encounter with them as you hike in the Cairngorns: that expression between wary and curious. I also like the hint of habitat given by the BG and the cool tones. Pity about the somewhat messy foreground, I would try to crop/clone at least some of it.

Nice composition and good eye contact Steve,

It always rains in the highlands but the wet sheen adds to the atmosphere of the image.

Beautiful FG & BG colours here Steve, (slight crop from bottom perhaps) great eye contact with good detail also, considering the 1/100 SS.

    Appreciate all the feedback guys.

Ignacio I know what you mean, but this is all part of the 'habitat & environment' and for me, it would be wrong to 'tamper' with it, plus it might not have the same impact and there would not be enough room for the virtual' legs;) Always good to get a different POV.

    cheers

Hi Steve, good eye contact, and I like how he is nicely separated from the BG. Lovely motled colours in the BG, and I would leave the FG as is ( for the virtual legs.)

love the pose, detail, soft light and colour tones here Steve. magnificent buck. I don't know if it'll mess up the FG horizontal line, but to my eye it seems a slight CW rotation will balance the comp more by aligning the antler tips a bit better. what do you think?

I like the mood created by the light, habitat, and topography, Steve. Very nice pose by the red deer. You might consider cloning the one stem almost touching the right side of the deer's head. Well done.
