This bird was swimming just off of the moat at Fort Jefferson at the Dry Tortugas National Park it was a very cooperative bird. Some adjustment in PS

Nice to have a cooperative subject! The square comp works nicely here IMO. Subject well placed within the frame and I like the upwards glance. Good job on the whites. Although I realize it may not have been possible I would have preferred a lower angle.

I was on my knees on the brick wall above the water, no place to lie down with people walking by

I had a hunch it wasn't possible to go any lower:).

Like the comp, sharpness, and exposure. Especially like the background. 1/640 sec is not that slow - was the water fairly choppy?

I like the head angle, soft light and eye contact as this species has such beautiful eyes. The whites look a bit reddish on my monitor and I might put the bird a tad further to the left in the frame but really not by much.

Nice up close shot. I like the silky texture of the water. The last time I saw a gannet, it was going 60mph straight down!
