    Default Goose Fight

I couldn't go out and shoot today because it was raining and thought I would post another one from my practicing at 1/8 th of a second. I know I should have tried panning but I used these semi-stationary geese who I thought were going to kill one-another in a vicious five minute fight.

I like the motion with the slow shutter speed.
    Comments Appreciated. Thanks.

These motion shots are always interesting to me. You never know what you are going to get. I like this image. I can feel the energy of the fight and what's going on with the foreground water is very interesting.

i think if you panned it wouldnt be as nice here. i love that the one eye is perfectly sharp and all the chaos is going on around it. personally, i think you nailed this one!!

a question for someone that knows, would it be proper to use rear curtain flash in these blur situations?

... Harold ... if I knew which side was the front or back it would :D

With these just take many then choose !! I like being able to see one face and the implied action, different for certain !! What a fight !!!! btw for strange effects can go even lower on the shutter speed and if the bird is stationary must move the camera slowly !!!

Interesting one, Jackie. I like the composition of the two birds in the frame, and the one eye makes it interesting. But for some reason it doesn't totally work for me - maybe not enough blur, I'm not sure. I guess you never know what you're going to get until you take lots and then look at the results when you get home.

Bill maybe I didn't get enough blur because I was too close, this is full frame. Not sure being pretty non-techie, but that would be my guess.

From Joe MaNally, it seems to me rear curtain flash makes sense all the time.

Re the pic, I prefer not to see the third bird a bit above and to the right of the fighting birds.
