The grass and bg do it for me, and I like its expression. Nice composition all around. Could be just me, but the head feathers seem a bit contrasty (oversharpened maybe?).

    Hi Don

Good looking bird and love the pose and attitude !! Makes all the difference. Do like the selected crop, agree with Connie on the sharpening, just back down a bit in the head area !!!

    Hi Don
I like the bird's active pose - neat to see the tongue. The composition works well. On my monitor as well, the bird's head has a very sharp edge - almost like an outline that seems artificial.
    Very nice
    Cheers

Like the crop, the BG is wonderful. Oversharpening already mentioned. But really a lovely shot.

The tongue and attitude make this one. When I was shooting them all I got was stares at me. You got some personality. Did you sing off key or something?

Also, you got a clear shot of the owl, without anything blocking its body. That is not easy to do either.

Don, I like everything about this, open beak, raised leg, and posed against a lovely BG.

I find the compo very conventional with the space for the direction of the view of the owl.
