    I came across this Male Downey Woodpecker this afternoon. I've been trying to get the larger Red Headed Woodpecker but so far I'm not happy with what I've got.
    Canon MarkllN,560mm,1/1000 sec.,f/7.1,iso 400.

    You should be Scott Downey's are such nice birds

    I like the exposure got some detail in blacks and white are fine Good head angle and enough room around the bird Would suggest having him further back in the frame As presented there is more space behind than in front, would clone the light area on the bottom right actually most will disappear after moving the bird

    For these after getting your initial image try to work you way for a different angle The bird from its side is very nice Would also give it an extra usm pass !!!

    Thanks Al,I'm still learning this Bird photography and the PP is where I'm really lacking.

    Your moving inthe right direction Scott if you are just learning. Lots right in this image as Alfred mentioned as well as his suggestions to strengthen it. Keep up the good work.
