This Western Screech Owl interrupted its snooze to take
a look at me (or perhaps that really is a disapproving glare from
this day sleeper). I greeted it with my whistled imitation of its song,
and was gratified by its sleepy reply. Very convincing talons. The wear
on this perch, the limb of a Western Red Cedar, suggests that the owl uses
    it regularly.

I love hearing their soothing tu-tu-tu-tu-tooo's outside my window in
the middle of the night. There is nothing at all "screechy" about their song.

The owl looks good and I really like the colors in this habitat shot.

Cool stare and good habitat. I might give it a bit more room.

I agree with Axel that a tad more room would strengthen this beautiful image. Love the pose , eye contact and definite stare and a very pleasing composition. Like this a lot. thanks for shariong Craig.

Ex ellent color and detail in this shot. I really like the habitat on the left of the shot as well. I also wish it had a bit more room, but that is a small nit.

Wonderful setting. Nice separation of subject from the BG that is so close to it. good call on wide-open. Thx for sharing...this is an awesome shot.

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments. I went back yesterday for some wider angle images, but the little guy was off in dreamland with eyes tightly closed. The light was less favorable as well.
