Weebill (Smicrornis brevirostris)subsp. Occidentalis
Canon EOS-1D Mark III - 500mm +1/4TC (1/200Sec. F11, iso400, fill flash, playback)
The Weebill takes the title of Australias smallest bird by default (approx 8-9cm)- & is an energetic little insect eating bird found throughout the Australian mainland who's lilting chatter punctuates most if not all of my walks through Perths outer parks
For those that are interested, theres some supplementary info here; http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/...s-brevirostris

Boy that is a really tiny bird and good for you to catch up to it.
Nice and sharp and nicely exposed.
I think cropping out most if not all of the dark band on left would direct all attention on very nice bird.
I'm not sure that I have seen this species before, thanks for sharing. I like the angle, sharpness and eye contact and only wish the dark part in the BG were not there. Could you have moved a bit to your left for a more uniform background? Keep them coming.
Beautiful bird and a species I have not seen before. Agree the dark area to the left is a bit distracting but a very lovely image and thanks for sharing.
Thankyou for taking the time to look!
I think you've got a point regarding the distracting Background element.
Unfortunately the background is a mix of quite tight dark stands of sheoak & light sandy soil, so taking a step to the left in this case wouldnt have been a solution. I have reposted a reprocessed version (read:cut + pasted the middle of the image & moved it across)
Be keen to know your thoughts
