Finally caught up to the large flock of Bohemian Waxwings that have been in our area. We've not had a lot of birds overwintering. Was a great time, sat amongst about 150 birds eating berries.

Beautiful bird that I'm not familiar with so not sure if the lack of detail in the plumage is natural or due to crop.
He looks like he's ready to jump branches.

I am always happy to see the waxwings. I was watching them catch flies today. I think they have eaten all the berries around. They ate all of mine over the weekend. I like the composition and it is well exposed. I think the lack of detail in the plumage is from a tight crop. I notice the red on the wings of this bird and another photo recently. I have not seen this on the local birds.

Lack of detail is my fault...this is about a 35% crop...processed the jpeg image instead of the raw image, old habits die hard.

Fabs this bird was leaning over, to grab that last berry, its fun to watch Bohemian Waxwings...they do a balancing act on small twigs..always look like their going to fall out of the tree.

Mack..These are Bohemian Waxwings..don't think you get these down in Texas, the red is highly visable on them because of the white and yellow surrounding it. You may be seeing juvenile birds..they have no red??
