    Last weekend, I took a drive through the nature reserve close to my house. These guys are always busy, so Im happy I got this fairly good HA.

    Canon 50D
    100-400 @ 400mm
    1/640
    F6.3
    ISO 400

    Exp Comp +0.33
    Hand held from the car.

    Sharp main subject, nicely blurred bg, good colors, good head angle. Perhaps the eye could be darkened a little - looks a bit dull. Enjoyable and unusual image.

    looks nice and sharp with good textures on the skin and casque, Stuart. Nice to see the low sun reflecting in the eye. Angled grass stems in the BG frame the image well but I wonder if blurring them a bit more is worth trying.

    Stuart, excellent job in harsh light. liked the sharpness. I think vertical would have been better. Even if that means very little space in front of the bird. But I dont what BG you would have had to include.

    That is very cool bird. I like the eye very much here.
    Agree that a vertical crop might work too.

    Beautiful "plat hoender";) portrait Stu. Love that eye and you captured great detail. Lovely soft colours as well.:)
