Copy right how to?

Good morning: As a newbie with photoshop, and progressing along, i can't figure our how to put my name, and copyright information on my pics. Sorry for the dumb question! If anyone can guide me, much appreciated. I have CS4, Thks Don

Do you use a Mac or Windows? You should select the typing tool, choose font and size and write your information, the copyright symbol is Option+G on a Mac, I'm not sure about the Windows shortcut.

Axel, good morning: I'm windows based PC, okay i'll look up the typing tool symbol. Do you click on it, and then go down to your photo before you save it, and then place the cursos and type??

On Windows based PC's, you can get the copyright symbol by holding down the "ALT" key and typing "0169". Put your text cursor where you want the copyright symbol..

On a PC you use the ALT key and you must type the 0169 on the numeric keypad.

You can create a brush. open a new file in PS size it to 640 X 480 or what size suits your needs. click on the text tool, choose the font and size type you prefer then position the cursor and on the page, hold down the alt key and type on the number pad 0169 followed by the year and your copyright name/information. Then under Edit click on the define brush preset and then click the check mark on the top task bar to complete the brush. Save it. The brush will be stored in the brush tool and can be added to your images. You can select the color you need when applying the copyright to the image.

If you use lightroom and creating a gallery (under the web module), there is a button that will add the copyright info to the picture. I think it gets the copyright info from the meta data in the camera.

I think you have to press the alt key while typing 0169. Alternatively, you could copy the symbol in Word or so and paste it in PS.

okay i did that.. no luck, just a thought as i'm typing this reply, do i need to hold "control -alt", or just Alt. There's got to be a way the pros are doing this, they can't be "dinking" around like i'm doing at this time.:confused:

I created a copyright brush as mentioned above. If you are using a laptop the alt+0169 will not work you need a full keyboard with a separate number pad. I know I had the same problem initially

Interesting, then pasting the symbol might be the easiest way.

If you don't have a numbers pad on your laptop try using the function key to activate the numbers in blue on the qwerty keys. That would be Fn+Alt MJO9 Try that Don.

Once you have created the brush you don't have to do it again. Just click on the brush icon and find the brush for the copyright in the drop down and select it and you will be able to put it on your image by clicking at the location you wish it to appear.

Don, the number lock must be ON for the number pad to work. It should be easy: Press and hold down the ALT key, while the ALT key is being held down type 0169 on the number pad, then let go of the ALT key. It should take less than a second:).

I've tried like heck to try the brush preset in CS2 and I can't get it to work.
Do you know if it works in the older version, and yes, I'm upgrading as soon as CS 5 comes out later this month.
If it does work, and I save it as a brush preset, how do I find it again?

Hi Don You can also incorporate the copyright into an action for saving images. Can do one for Vertical one for horizontal. Once you finish working on the image just click the action to covert to sRGB, size and add copyright !

Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.

Do I have to register with your office to be protected?
No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section “Copyright Registration.”

From what I know (I am not an attorney in this area), there is absolutely no need nor requirement to put that copyright symbol on your images. They have copyright when you click the shutter. And also note it is "copyright registration" that is required to go before a judge with lawsuit.
