This is a bird I have been waiting to shoot for a long time,
    500 mm w/ 1.4 TC
    7.1
    1/800 s
    400 ISO
    AV/ Eval +1/3
    Flash ETTL -1 1/3
HA could be better and could be sharper IMO.
    Comments Appreciated.

Jackie, what a little cutie.... I love the water and BG. The catchlight in the eye is fabulous. Congrats!!

Hi Jackie - like this a lot - the BG colours compliment the bird very Nicely.
Nice catchlight in the eye - whites dont look over but not a lot of detail there on my screen.
HA might be slightly off - and I would sharpen just a tad.
    Lovely :)

Hi jackie...I would echo Richards comments ! I have tried unsuccessfully in years past to get a keeper of these birds but with the weather breaking and your photo for inspiration I will try again. Thanks for posting!

They are tough, I never had the reach until I got the 500, and I still need improvement with the TC, but I was happy with this one. They also seem to come out around 5:30pm when the light is low. Good luck, I hope you get some keepers Bob.

Hi Jackie That is as good as you can do with those ducks short of taking them to a studio !!!

Like the look back and water !! If anything a little more room by the tail !!!

I prefer the original post. I love the color of the water and the waves around the duck.
Very nice image of this species.

you worked on the eye on the repost. i'm torn. i said do what you did to it at first, and now that i look at it i'm not sure if i dont like the eye in the original better. i do like the extra room behind.

this is fantastic, jacks. now, if it were mine i would clean up the specular highlights on the bill and feathers. you smashed this one out of the park!! the pink hues on the water just keep me staring at it! congrats!
