    Default BIF Gull

Taken last weekend on Plum Island. Not much going on there this time of the year.
Got few gulls feeding on crabs at the beach. The wind unfortunately was from the
opposite direction of sun, not too many chances for a decent HA.
    CC appreciated.

Very good capture with good detail. Can't get much better for a gull.:)

Excellent sharpness. I like the strong line created by the sky intersection with the water, and I'm glad the gull isn't straddling the line. I do wish for better near wing position and a better head angle though.

    Ilija:

Agree with Doug about the horizon line. Particularly like its placement in the frame.
Because he is angling towards us, even though the head is turned a bit back from body, it still looks almost parallel to the sensor to me, so it doesn't bother me much. Nice to get some light/detail under the back wing.

Yes, a full downstroke on wing would be better, but I still find it a clean, effective photo.

Thak you Thomas, Doug and Randy,

I fully agree with the comments about HA,
downstroke too as long as it didn't cross the horizon.
Yes, the bird is not too colorful but I liked the way
it was placed near the horizon, as you mentioned.

    Thanks,

Hi Ilija, this gull looks the same as our juvenile Kelp Gull. Lovely light on him, and pity he didnt turn his head towards you.

LLija, I like the blue color and the placement of the gull w.r.t the horizon. I think I'd have liked full downstroke better even if it had intersected the horizon. Sharpness is very good considering its with TC.
