Yesterday was the first day I have been out to the coast since December. There were tons of Willets, godwits, and curlews, but not much else besides a few Sanderlings and turnstones. I made quite a few keepers of the more common species. Here is one of my favorites from the morning.
50D, 100-400 at 400mm
1/800 sec, f/6.3, ISO 640
Handheld resting on the sand.
Very nice, soft light, nice colors, sharp, well exposed, nice composition.
Particularly like the colored bands in the background, gives a bit more interest.
I've got to say that I'm not convinced there is much of anything I'd do differently accept maybe try and darken the whites in the tail a bit...but they may go gray and in that case they are fine as is.
Really like the pose, simplicity and overall low contrast image created.
This is fantastic, the plumage detail, delicate well composed colors,
great BG, but the pose, the way the legs are positioned and
direct eye contact is what it makes it special.
Hi Aidan
A wonderful shot, I really like the comp and the soft BG. The pose is different and good, also like that you have a bit of eye contact.
Keep them comming.
