Another excellent shot. I much prefer this image to the previous one. Might include a bit more perch at the bottom of the frame.

    Interesting comment Doug...

Do you prefer this one as the perch is now visible, the wing / body positioning or?

Beautiful image of a beautiful bird. Intensity of stare, detail of whites, detail in feathers, wing position, sharpness of talons, perch - all nicely done.
I liked both photographs but when the perch is in sight - for me - it sometimes it helps to ground the image.
Only thing I would do (and I am not great at crop) - would be to place the bird more to the left of the image and have a bit more space on the right.

Nice image, Jim. A particularly nice display of the wing and exp is spot on.

A very nice pose, Jim. The outstretched talons on the bird's left foot are a plus. Also good exposure, sharpness, and background. Well done.

Great pose and nice timing on your part. Exposure looks great. I too would like to see just a bit more perch at the bottom to help anchor the image more.

The perch gives the bird a sense of purpose IMO. You knew it was coming in for a landing in the first image, but the inclusion of the perch completes the image. I also prefer the head angle in the second image.

I saw the previous image on NSN and I liked it. I think I like this one better, Jim.
