We are so used to seeing them in captivity that we tend to forget what extraordinary birds these are. Shot in the wild at Yala National Park, Sri Lanka.
I cleaned the BG a little.

This is a great image to remind us that.
I like the soft light, calling pose, and comp.

Yes, indeed....Extraordinary is the right word. India has got one exotic national bird.

You were able to capture it singing, on a nice perch and with perfect head angle. Blurred BG too....which is not easy in the forests. needed that f/2.8, didn't you? A little more room on top would have been nice.

    Thx for sharing.

A very nice pose and I like the diagonals in the perch and the bird's tail. I would only wish for a little room on the left to give the ends of the tail feathers a bit of "breathing" space.

I agree with Steve about room for the tail, and maybe a tiny bit more above, but otherwise awesome image. Perhaps a tad dark. Love the calling pose, the perch, and the hint of habitat.

I agree about the tail, and might lighten the mid-tones a tad. This is a great image however. I love the calling pose, soft light, and the perfect amount of habitat included.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I cropped again leaving a little more room and lightened up the midtones a bit. I kind of light the early morning low light though.

    Best,
