Default 6,000th post: Caracara in Some Nice Light

From last week's Florida trip. This was taken on a highway one morning. We were driving and noticed a deer that had been struck by a car and killed. There were a number of birds feeding on the carcass. We stopped and noticed a Caracara juvenile in a tree. After waiting a couple of minutes, the Caracara descended from the tree to join in the feast. This image was taken as the bird flew to the deer.

Congrats on 6K. I always find your photos enjoyable and your critiques very helpful. What an image to celebrate it with. Great light and so is the pose.

Great lighting and sharpness. (So sharp I'm kind afraid to get close to the monitor for fear of getting cut from those talons.) I really like the DOF and the background colors, I think they really work well with the color of the Caracara.

Also, congrats on the 6k posts.

Hey Doug, congrats on your milestone. You have a little catching to do. ;) Just love the light and colours in this, and you certainly nailed the sharpness. Well done.

This image was taken the morning that I was having problems with the connection between the 500 and the 1.4x. My best focus area in this image was on the talons, not the eye, but the head sharpened up nicely in post. Here's a 100% crop of the RAW file Arash.
