The Orange River, South Africa's largest river, flows through a vast array of landscapes. Here in the Augrabies Falls National Park it carves its way through jagged rocks, granite plates and an overall harsh terrain. This is a capture of the sunrise light reflected off the rocks in this area.
Taken during our trip to the Fish River Canyon in May 2009.

The problem here there is nothing that acts as a center of interest. The eye wanders the scene wondering what the subject is. In cases like this a telephoto can be used to isolate interesting elements on the landscape.
Hi morkel, agree withRobert. If really want to see a point of interest,in part,(the rocks ) you 'd have to crop all the lowest part.
I've been there, also in Kalahari, 5 years ago, I hope to be back again..Please greet Southafrica!
Robert - we were actually standing on a huge rocky outcrop called Moon Rock, with nothing much close by to use as interest. I will definitely think about different shots should I go there again.
Hey Morkel,
I agree with the center of interest.....so does Dave who is here with me in Fla. I will offer another option....with the longer telephoto......stitch a pano of the upper 1/2 of the image......that's where the interest is.
