Unsure on this one whether to bin it or keep it. I like the interaction between the Grackles and the sheen. The blacks haven't blocked but I find the OOF grass distracting. Any help welcomed.

Hi Stuart - I quite like it - some more space at the bottom and maybe a tad off the top and sides.
The OOF grasses dont bother me too much - I go out of my way to look for situations like this (Think I found one yesterday :) ) It is hard and takes lots of vision and practice but I often use OOF foreground elements as part of my composition - I find when it works - it works really well. Dont know if you saw any of the Gannets I did in this style?
A lower shooting angle might have made this interesting - I certainly would have been on the ground working those OOF foreground grasses to see if I could get something happening.
    Id keep it!

Hi Stuart....I like the low angle shot ...it has that intimate look to it. I am bothered by the oof grass over the left hand side bird's head....Overall, if it were mine I would keep it!

I would crop it, as suggested, and keep it. Like the action captured.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Lance, I do remember your Gannets images very well. And will give your technique a try with using oof areas like a 'frame'. Still unsure as to this image but will try a print and see after cropping etc as suggested.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Stuart !!

Agree with the tightness at the bottom As presented will go with a vertical crop .. .did come up with a perfect exposure and the right light for bringing out the color !!!
