    Default Bald Eagle In Flight

First, I apologize for the tight crop. The BE was very close and this was the crop that looked best to my eyes, sort of a full body in flight portrait. Taken at L&D 14 in Iowa a few days ago.

    Canon 7D; Sigma 150-500 OS; 439mm; 1/1600; f/8; iso 640.

    Thanks for looking in.

I have to say that I'm jealous - I have a number of blurry frames from this morning of a bald eagle in flight so I understand the challenges involved. Without the feather tips, I wonder if it might be better to crop in even tighter and cut off part of the wing. I would open up some of the shadow in the inner wing to compensate for the loss of detail. I say this because I think the head, eye, and beak are the strongest part of your image.

    Mark:

Good exposure on the whites. Nice angle in the frame.

Mack raises a good point about the cropping. If you want, post the original uncropped image, so we can see what you have to work with. Generally, as Artie would say, cut, don't clip, so it looks like you meant to crop at a particular spot, not that you accidentally clipped a feather.

    Cheers

Thank you guys for your comments. Randy, I see what you're saying about making it look like you meant to crop it instead of looking like a wing got clipped. Unfortunately, I don't have the original any more, but will definitely post another of my shots in a day or two and will try to use the above suggestions.
