    Default Orlando Florida area

    Hello everyone -
I will be in the Orlando area the last two weeks in March. Any suggestions for areas to take great bird photos would be appreciated. I looked at google maps and it looks like there are many nature preserves in the area. I will have a rental car so am open to a road trip. I am also planning to rent a 100 to 400 lens. (Currently have 70-300, yes I am a rookie.) I hope that opens up a new world for me!
    Thank you!
    Kathy

    Default Orlando area.

    Hello Kathy,

If you have a car and don't mind an hours journey, a trip out to Viera Wetlands and Merritt Island can be excellent. You will see a lot of images from Viera on the Avian threads.

Kathy----This link http://www.myfwc.com/eagle/eaglenests/nestlocator.aspx will show you where to find Eagles nest(only in Florida ) If you plug in an address or area or city and say put in a radius of 25-30 miles it will show you where the nests are and you can locate just by following the map. I live in Jacksonville and have found 6 nests which are so easy to access ---there are over 150 here--if you put in a radius of more than 50 miles it won't work because of all the nests---so start small----you will see that there are a ton of nests in the Orlando area---you can get some awesome pictures----Steve

    Default Thank you!

Thank you, everyone! Between the posts here and some pm's, I've received many great suggestions. I think I'll be taking photos the whole time I'm there. Now when am I going to fit in that golf game? :)

    Hi Kathy,

If you make it over to Gatorland, we have Hunters Creek Golf Course right across the street!
