For anyone who visits Tucson, Arizona, the Desert Museum is a must stop. They have many free ranging birds but the most special place is the Hummingbird aviary. You can walk around and find lovely diffused lighting in some corner every day. They have 5 species of Hummingbirds, usually a few nesting and feeding young.
This image of a Costa's Hummingbird was one I waited for, he kept coming back to his favourite perch..all the while I was trying to get a photo of his purple gorget..this is one of the better ones...there was some branches as evident in bottom left hand...I tried moving but this was the best angle.....
I like the unusual, inquisitive pose, Paul. The exposure looks good and it's nice and sharp with good detail. Like you, I wish the oof greenery could have been avoided.
