I took a few Phainopepla images and both were ok but they each had parts I liked. After seeing Nikki's Skimmer image I decided to try using Fotosketcher (Free Software). Originally no berries, but added them in to fill the void on left side....

Brilliant blending of bird parts, Paul. And I like the addition of the berries. The bird does look as if he's eyeing them off:) Your fotosketcher treatment makes it look almost Japanese. Love it! Thanks for sharing your secrets. LOL. Kora

Paul, I love it too! The berries add a bit of interest. I love the pose and the sketch effect. The woven texture BG is nice. It's a tiny bit tight in the frame-but it looks great!!!:)

Beautiful image, Paul! I love the pose, sketch look, and textured BG. I think the berries add to the comp, though I would lighten them a bit because as is I feel they compete some with the bird for attention. The red eye is a nice touch! :)

    Nice image and application, Paul.

Very nice work on the bird and like the berries.

I might have put the BG on a separate layer with a slight color tint, but ...

    Your image ... your vision.

Paul, I am in love with this image! So simple and yet so beautiful. The bird looking over to the berries balances the frame perfectly and I love the addition of some texture to the BG.
