Default Black & White, with stripes all over

Photographed in Etosha National Park, Namibia. I wanted to emphasize the graphic look of zebras but still show these as real animals by keeping the noses velvet-looking and real. I used Photoshop to desaturate the original RAW capture.
    Canon 40D, Canon 70-200 f2.8 L IS lens, f6.7, 1/1000, program mode, ISO 400.

Look forward to comments and instruction.

    Hi Nancy,

Of its type it is a good image. I would crop more off both sides where the effect in the processing is not as dramatic.

It is interesting. Can't quite make up my mind whether I like it, but I'm glad to look at it.

I agree about a crop, at least from the left (or a toning down of the effect in that area, but I think a crop will look better anyway). Did you try retaining the eyes too? I do wonder what it would look like. I like the falloff to pure white at the bottom, but for my taste not so much on the ears.

Thanks for the suggestion on additional cropping. I did that and re-submitted on the Out of the Box forum.

Nancy I would also convert to B/W to help avoid any colour cast too.

Like most I am not to sure that I like this but it is an interesting result. I would crop from both sides.

    Nancy,

I love it and commend your stepping out of the box.

    Best,
